The First Amendment is on its last legs in Michigan. Recently, Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson released a memo urging Michiganders to report their neighbors for spreading “election misinformation.” Jocelyn Benson’s “definition” of “election misinformation” includes AI deep fakes, like the Kamala Harris video that Elon Musk shared, which was clearly a joke. After Elon Musk shared the video, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared Musk’s actions “illegal” and stated he would “sign a bill in a matter of weeks to make sure it is.” Benson’s memo also states that Michiganders should rely on Snopes.com, FactCheck.org, and PolitiFact for their election information, which is quite ironic considering that Snopes questioned the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s laptop, and PolitiFact stated that Covid 19 did not come from a lab. Jocelyn Benson’s memo is yet another example that Democrats rely on censorship when the American people are not on their side.
Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s memo reads, “The use of artificial intelligence technology to create realistic deep fake images, audio, videos, and fake comments poses an increasing threat.”
Benson then “informs” Michiganders, “If you are unsure whether a story or claim is true, you can get trusted, verified nonpartisan information from the Michigan Bureau of Elections, your local clerk and these sites: • Michigan.gov/SOSFactCheck, Snopes.com, FactCheck.org, and PolitiFact.”
Benson’s memo ends with her requesting, “If you see misleading or inaccurate information regarding voting or elections in Michigan, please report it — and include an image if possible — to Misinformation@Michigan.gov.”
Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s definition of an “AI deep fake” includes the video of Kamala Harris, which is clearly a joke, speaking on being Joe Biden’s ultimate DEI hire. After Elon Musk shared the Harris video, California Governor Gavin Newsom called for Musk’s actions to be criminalized in a post reading, “Manipulating a voice in an ‘ad’ like this one should be illegal. I’ll be signing a bill in a matter of weeks to make sure it is.”
Musk fired back at Newsom. “I checked with renowned world authority, Professor Suggon Deeznutz, and he said parody is legal in America.”
Jocelyn Benson’s call to Michiganders to get their information from Snopes.com, FactCheck.org, and PolitiFact is quite ironic as Snopes questioned the reality of Hunter Biden’s laptop with a post reading, “Although Hunter Biden said ‘there could be a laptop out there’ that once belonged to him, he simultaneously raised the possibility that the computer and its purported contents might not, in fact, be authentic.”
PolitiFact once stated Covid 19 did not come from a lab, with their “analysis” reading, “The genetic structure of the novel coronavirus, which has been shared by thousands of scientists worldwide, rules out the possibility that it was manipulated in a lab. Public health authorities have repeatedly said the virus was not created in a lab. Scientists believe the coronavirus originated in bats before jumping to humans. Experts have publicly rebuked Yan’s paper, and it’s unclear whether it was peer reviewed. The claim is inaccurate and ridiculous. We rate it Pants on Fire!”
Jocelyn Benson’s efforts to criminalize the First Amendment prove yet again that Democrats rely on censorship when they know they have lost the will of the American people.
