EXCLUSIVE: Florida Freedom Fund’s Post-2024 Election Activity Sparks Questions About Casey DeSantis’s Political Ambitions

The Florida Freedom Fund PAC, which was established in May of 2024 to support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s political initiatives, has drawn scrutiny for its significant fundraising and spending since the 2024 election, raising questions about potential political plans for the Governor’s wife, Casey DeSantis. Launched in May of 2024, shortly after Ron DeSantis’s unsuccessful presidential campaign against President Trump, the Florida Freedom Fund PAC is chaired by James Uthmeier, DeSantis’s handpicked Attorney General and former presidential campaign manager, according to Florida state records. It is also important to note that RonDeSantis.com redirects users to the Florida Freedom Fund PAC’s website, as the fund was established with the same branding and domain as Ron DeSantis’s Presidential campaign website.

The DeSantis family has a history of shady campaign finance maneuvers that have benefited them, raising questions about DeSantis’s abuse of authority. In 2023, DeSantis directed his hand selected Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd to amend state laws, allowing funds from state political action committees to be transferred to federal political action committees—a move that facilitated Ron DeSantis’s failed presidential bid and allowed for over $80 million of funds he raised during his 2022 Gubernatorial campaign via his state PAC from Trump supporters to be transferred to his Never Back Down PAC in support of his failed Presidential campaign against Donald Trump.

Since the 2024 election, the Florida Freedom Fund has reported substantial contributions. State records reveal that Keep Florida Clean Inc., also chaired by James Uthmeier, donated $1.1 million to the Florida Freedom Fund on December 12, 2024, followed by another $131,433.51 donation to the Florida Freedom Fund on February 4, 2025.

Additional donations in 2025 to the Florida Freedom Fund include $50,000 from Health Option One LLC on February 7th, 2025. Records from Open Secrets shows that Health Option One LLC donated $100,000 to Ron DeSantis on June 21st, 2021. It is worth noting that there are no Florida elections outside of the special elections for two Florida Congressional seats in April of 2025, which Florida Freedom Fund didn’t spend any money on, according to campaign finance records on the Florida Division of Elections website.

On February 7th, the Florida Freedom Fund also received $10,000 from Florida Free Enterprise Fund. Shockingly, the Florida Freedom Fund received $500,000 from an entity called CDR Enterprises Inc. on March 27, and another $500,000 from William Meeter on March 28th, 2025.

The Florida Freedom Fund’s 2025 expenditures have also raised eyebrows. Florida records indicate payments of $30,000 to DownsAaron LLC, a firm with deep ties to DeSantis’s inner circle. Peter Schorsch, the founder of the Florida Politics publication, noted on his X account in a tweet he posted on September 19th, 2024 that “Downs is city attorney for @CityBeautiful; Aaron is a well-connected litigator close to @RonDeSantis C o S@JamesUthmeierFL Aaron, husband of DeSantis’ appointments director, successfully defended against challenges from suspended state attorneys Andrew Warren and Monique Worrell, Martha’s Vineyard. He also served on board for pro-DeSantis Super PAC Fight Right.”

Other Florida Freedom Fund spending includes $10,000 to MHM Consulting LLC on January 10th, 2025 and $32,500 to Capitol Solutions Consulting LLC on January 28th, 2025.

The PAC’s activity coincides with growing speculation about Casey DeSantis’ political future, particularly as the 2026 Florida gubernatorial race approaches. President Donald Trump has already endorsed Florida Congressman Byron Donalds for Governor of Florida, prompting a response from DeSantis that downplayed Donalds’s role in Florida’s recent political successes. “They haven’t done very much yet,” DeSantis said. “You got a guy like Byron, he just hasn’t been part of the victories we’ve had in FL.”

The combination of robust fundraising, strategic spending, and DeSantis’s comments refusing to support Byron Donalds for Governor of Florida has led some observers to question whether the Florida Freedom Fund is laying the financial groundwork for a potential Casey DeSantis candidacy for Governor, as Laura Loomer previously suggested.
