EXCLUSIVE: NIH Renews Funding For Cruel Fauci Beagle And Trans Mice Experiments Under New Trump Admin

Loomer Unleashed’s recent guest Justin Goodman, the Senior Vice President of the non-profit White Coat Waste Project, discussed how the U.S. government is the country’s largest funder of animal testing, along with the important work President Donald Trump has done to stop the government from supporting this taxpayer-funded cruelty toward dogs, cats and other animals in laboratories both in the US and abroad.

America may not know their name, but Americans know their work. WCW is the group that first exposed Dr. Fauci and USAID’s funding for the Wuhan animal testing lab that caused COVID.  They exposed Fauci’s beagle tests around the world. Additionally, WCW uncovered the Biden-Harris Administration’s funding for transgender animal experiments that President Trump and DOGE have been criticizing and cutting.

In advance of WCW’s interview with Loomer Unleashed, Loomered broke a new WCW investigation exposing how the Biden-Harris National Institute of Health (NIH) paid billionaire Moderna co-founder Robert Langer’s new biotech company to torture beagles to test an experimental weight loss drug.  The $322,00 grant was given to Langer’s company in September 2024, and it’s still being funded until August 2025 under the new Trump administration.

This begs the question: Why is the Trump NIH still paying this Trump hating, MRNA pioneer and vaccine billionaire to abuse dogs?

As WCW exposed on Loomer Unleashed, this isn’t the only Biden-era animal cruelty that’s continued on Trump’s watch.

Trump’s NIH headquarters, where the new Trump-appointed NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya is headquartered, still houses a lab that has been torturing beagles in deadly septic shock experiments for a quarter century, and they plan to continue their abuse of animals on taxpayer dime.

WCW uncovered that the NIH and Pentagon are currently paying a laboratory in China to abuse 300 beagles per week in drug tests. The contract was awarded under Biden-Harris and is still active until the end of May 2025, and could be extended if Bhattacharya doesn’t take immediate action.  Trump has canceled grants to some Chinese labs, but 20 other Chinese animal testing laboratories are still eligible for NIH funding.

Dr. Nora Volkow, the longtime NIH bureaucrat who serves as the Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse at NIH, which funded this Chinese dog lab–and paid for abuses like cocaine experiments on puppies and sex party drug tests on transgender animals–also has managed to keep her job. Hopefully, not for long.

These aren’t isolated incidents. Loomered has learned that other horrendous animal testing projects have even been renewed and extended under the Trump Administration. According to WCW, the NIH just renewed a $3 million project funded by Dr. Fauci at the University of Missouri-Columbia that infests hundreds of beagle puppies with ticks in vaccine experiments. Records obtained by WCW show that the puppies have their fur shaved and capsules full of hungry ticks glued to their bare skin. Many of the dogs are intentionally denied pain relief. The grant was scheduled to end in May of 2025 and the Trump NIH just extended these animal abuse experiments till May of 2026.

The NIH also just inexplicably extended a $3.1 million grant for transgender animal testing that WCW exposed last year, that Trump called out during his Congressional address in March, and that the White House specifically highlighted in a March 2025 press release. The Trump Administration has cut at least 10 transgender animal testing grants so far, but one grant to Indiana University just had its end date extended from June of 2025 to June of 2026.

Dr. Bhattacharya has his work cut out for him at the NIH and some hard decisions to make, but banning cruel animal testing isn’t one of them. There’s absolutely no reason why he can’t immediately shut down the dog lab located inside his own NIH headquarter office in DC where he works every week, cut all active and future funding for dog and cat experiments, defund and disqualify all animal labs in China, and put all animal testing on the chopping block.  We also need to retire and re-home as many dogs and cats as possible from these taxpayer-funded labs that get shut down so that the animals who were subjected to abuse are not euthanized, and can live the rest of their life in a loving home. If Bhattacharya can’t save puppies and kittens, how can the American people have truth in anything at NIH getting fixed?
