FL State Senate Candidate Tom Leek’s Obsession With Fundraising Outside Of Florida

Floridians’ money is not good enough for Florida State Seventh District Candidate Tom Leek, who has an obsession with raising money outside of his district and the state of Florida as a whole. Leek has been a member of the Florida State House since 2016. In his first election, 52% of his donations came from outside his district. In 2018, 61% of his donations came from outside his district. Leek did not let up his fundraising blitz from non-district residents, as 63% of Leek’s 2020 donations came from outside his district, and 68% of Leek’s 2022 donations came from outside his district.  Tom Leek’s abandonment of his district has not gone unnoticed, as President Trump has endorsed Leek’s GOP Primary Opponent, David Shoar. Tom Leek’s obsession with raising money outside of his district is a red flag in itself. However, Leek holding multiple fundraising blitzes from non-district residents while running unopposed should be proof that he puts his voters’ needs second behind special interests. The facts are clear: Tom Leek must be handily defeated.

In 2016, Tom Leek ran unopposed. 35% of Leek’s campaign donations came from his district residents. The remaining donations came from Tallahassee 14%, other areas of Florida 38%, and 10% came from non-Florida residents.

Tom Leek again ran unopposed in 2018, with 28% of his campaign donations coming from his district residents with the remaining coming from Tallahassee 16%, other areas of Florida 44% and 9% came from non-Florida residents.

In 2020, Leek, who ran unopposed again, ramped up his fundraising efforts from non-district residents. Only 23% of donations came from inside his district, 25% from Tallahassee, 37% from other areas of Florida, and 13% from outside the state of Florida.

Leek continued his non-district fundraising blitz in 2022, with 44% of his donations coming from Tallahassee, 22% coming from other areas of Florida, 10% coming from outside of Florida, and only 24% of his donations came from inside his district.

Tom Leek’s disloyalty to his voters has not gone unnoticed, as President Trump has endorsed Leek’s GOP Primary Opponent, David Shoar. President Trump’s TruthSocial endorsement read, “David Shoar is a tremendous America First Patriot who is running to represent the incredible people of Florida’s 7th State Senate District!”

President Trump’s endorsement continues, “A Gulf War Army Veteran, David bravely served our Country and has continued to fight to protect our Communities as St. Johns County Sheriff. As your next State Senator, David will bring that same fighting Spirit to Bring Back the Great American Dream, Grow the Economy, Stop Inflation, Secure the Border, Support our Brave Military/Vets, Advance Election Integrity, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment. David Shoar, who is 100% MAGA, and has been with us from the very beginning, has my Complete and Total Endorsement – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

Tom Leek’s obsession with raising money outside of his district is a red flag in itself. However, Leek holding multiple fundraising blitzes from non-district residents while running unopposed should be proof that he puts his voters’ needs second behind special interests. The Republican Party is a grassroots party controlled by its voters. Florida State Seven District voters have an obligation to defeat Leek at the ballot box.
