Senate GOP Leadership Candidate John Thune has made clear via his fundraising record and X posts that he will fully embrace Mitch McConnell’s globalist policies if the Senate GOP elects him Senate GOP Leader on November 13th. John Thune’s social media history shows he has fully embraced the Cheney family. Thune once posted a photo of himself and his wife with Dick Cheney and captioned the picture “old friends.” It should be no surprise that Thune and the Cheney family are “old friends” as Thune and the Cheney family share the same policy beliefs on Ukraine and January 6th. Thune has supported and stood by Mitch McConnell’s side on every McConnell-Schumer Continuing Resolution that funded Ukraine with billions of dollars. At the same time, Liz Cheney was quick to attack any GOP Senator who did not support Thune and McConnell’s Ukraine funding bills. Sadly, the Cheney family is not the only prominent neocon figure Thune has connections to, as Thune is funded by one of Nikki Haley’s largest donors Ryan Shirley. The Senate GOP Majority Leader will work closely with President Trump as the Senate confirms Trump’s judicial and political appointments. John Thune’s embracement of the policy of forever wars proves he should be disqualified from contention of being Senate GOP Leader.
John Thune posted a picture to X of his wife and him with Dick Cheney, captioning the moment, “Kimberley and I always enjoy visiting old friends when they are in South Dakota. Great to catch up with Vice President Cheney.”
Thune is correct to refer to the Cheney family as his old friends because Thune and the Cheney family embrace the same policies. Thune and the Cheney family both support forever wars like in Ukraine as Thune supported and stood by Mitch McConnell’s side on every McConnell-Schumer Continuing Resolution that founded Ukraine with billions of dollars. At the same time, Liz Cheney was quick to attack any GOP Senator who did not support Thune and McConnell’s Ukraine funding bills, once posting to X, “. @BasedMikeLee is hard at work trying to lose the war in Ukraine and Make Russia Great Again.”
John Thune’s post-January 6th impeachment vote statement looks like it could have been written by Liz Cheney herself as Thune incorrectly blames Donald Trump for the events of J6 with Thune’s statement reading, “The impeachment trial is over, and former President Trump has been acquitted. My vote to acquit should not be viewed as exoneration for his conduct on January 6, 2021, or in the days and weeks leading up to it. What former President Trump did to undermine faith in our election system and disrupt the peaceful transfer of power is inexcusable.”
It’s telling that John Thune’s post-J6 statement reads like something from the J6 Committee. It is important to note that the J6 Committee hid evidence from the American people that exonerated President Trump. Liz Cheney’s J6 Committee colleague Jamie Raskin called Loomer Unleashed “delusional” after we asked him, “Great to see you again, Congressman. Real quick, did you not hand over your deleted communications because there were more tapes like Nancy Pelosi’s saying J6 was her fault? Is that why you won’t hand them over? You don’t want the American public to see the truth?”
The Cheney family is not the only prominent neocon John Thune has a connection to. FEC records show that Ryan Shirley, who donated $2.5 million to Nikki Haley, also gave almost $60k to John Thune’s 2024 Thune Republican Senate Victory PAC in September.
It is important to note that President Trump seems determined to keep globalists out of his new administration, as he recently posted to TruthSocial, “I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation. I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously and would like to thank them for their service to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump also posted, “The Democrats made a BIG mistake in getting Crazy Liz Chaney, and her father, Dick, involved in their campaign for President. It made the Republicans angry, and the Democrats just plain scratching their heads in amazement. It is always a bad idea to bring “losers”into a political campaign!”
John Thune associates with the Cheney family and takes donations from globalists, which makes it clear that he is a globalist himself. The American people voted for America First policies in the last election. The Senate GOP must listen to its voters and not allow John Thune to become Senate GOP Leader.
