For over 100 years, the United States military and the Boy Scouts worked hand in hand. It was a natural fit. The military stood for duty, honor, and country. The Boy Scouts stood for the same. Young boys learned leadership, toughness, and personal responsibility. Many of them became soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines. It was a pipeline of strong young men raised to serve their country.
But now, that partnership is on the chopping block. Why? Because the group once known as the Boy Scouts has changed so much, it barely resembles what it used to be. And War Secretary Pete Hegseth has had enough.
According to leaked memos, Hegseth is seriously considering cutting ties with the group now called “Scouting America.” He says they’ve lost their way. Instead of focusing on building men of character, they’ve gone all-in on diversity, equity, and inclusion—better known as DEI. That’s the same ideology that’s been creeping into schools, workplaces, and even the military itself. And it’s the same ideology many Americans are sick and tired of.
Let’s be honest. The Boy Scouts used to be a place where boys learned how to be men. They learned how to build fires, tie knots, help their communities, and stand up for what’s right. It was about merit. You earned your badges. You worked your way up. You became an Eagle Scout through hard work and discipline.
Now? You get a badge just for learning about “inclusion.” Back in 2020, the organization added a DEI requirement for becoming an Eagle Scout. They later changed the name to the “Citizenship in Society” badge, but the message stayed the same. It’s not about skills or service anymore—it’s about pushing a certain worldview.
And that worldview is anything but neutral. The group dropped “Boy” from their name years ago. Then they became “Scouts BSA.” Now they’re “Scouting America.” Why? To be more inclusive. To be more “gender neutral.” But in doing so, they’ve erased the very thing that made the group special—its focus on boys becoming men.
Hegseth sees the writing on the wall. He’s not trying to destroy tradition. He’s trying to save it. He understands that if the military keeps backing an organization that no longer supports the values it once did, then the military is helping fund its own decline.
The Pentagon used to provide trucks, doctors, and even planes to help with Scout events. It was a big deal, and it came with big resources. But with the border in chaos and tensions rising overseas, Hegseth says those resources are needed elsewhere. He’s not wrong. Why should taxpayer money and military assets be used to support a group that’s pushing identity politics instead of patriotism?
Scouting America claims they’re still about “duty to God and country,” but actions speak louder than words. When you replace achievement with activism, you lose trust. And millions of Americans have noticed. That’s why membership has plummeted. That’s why people aren’t signing their kids up anymore. And that’s why Hegseth is doing what he’s doing.
This isn’t just about the Boy Scouts. It’s about every American institution slowly being reshaped by leftist ideology. We’ve seen it in colleges. We’ve seen it in corporations. And now we’re seeing it in once-proud youth groups. The people in charge want to erase anything that celebrates masculinity, responsibility, and traditional values. But regular Americans aren’t buying it.
Pete Hegseth is standing up and saying: enough is enough. If the Scouts want to keep changing who they are, fine. But don’t expect the U.S. military to go along for the ride. The silent majority agrees. They’re tired of watching everything they grew up with get twisted into something unrecognizable.
Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is walk away from what something has become—and remember what it used to be.
