In a post from December 2023, Trump Jr wrote about how Cornyn and Thune remained silent about the Left’s attempts to remove Trump from the ballot. Sadly, Cornyn and Thune have a long history of anti-Trump remarks, with Thune calling for Mike Pence to replace Trump on the ballot and Cornyn stating that “Trump can’t win” the 2024 election. During September 2023, Trump Jr’s posts highlighted Cornyn and Thune’s obsession with funding Ukraine. Cornyn and Thune have released multiple press statements supporting Ukraine funding, with Cornyn even visiting Ukraine. Members of the Senate GOP will hold an election on November 13th to select a new leader. The establishment wing of the Senate GOP hopes they can retain power with Texas Senator Jon Cornyn or South Dakota Senator John Thune winning the Senate leadership fight. The United States Senate confirms judges and presidential appointments. John Cornyn and Thune’s horrific policy positions prove that GOP voters can’t trust Thune and Cornyn’s “leadership” abilities.
In an X post from December 2023, Trump Jr wrote about how John Cornyn and Thune remained silent about the Left’s attempts to remove Trump from the ballot, “Mitch McConnell, John Thune and John Cornyn remain silent. Of the 4 most senior members of Senate Republican leadership, Barrasso is the only one with the courage to weigh in against what the radical left is trying to do to my father.”
Sadly, Cornyn and Thune have a long history of anti-Trump remarks. On October 8, 2016, Thune wrote on his X account, “Donald Trump should withdraw and Mike Pence should be our nominee effective immediately.”
John Thune also made horrific comments about President Trump’s 2020 election integrity efforts by saying Trump’s efforts to secure the 2020 election will go down like a “shot dog.”
John Cornyn has also made anti-Trump comments. In May 2023, Cornyn said President Trump can’t win the 2024 election because he is not “electable.” It is important to note that Cornyn attended a D.C. fundraiser for then-presidential candidate Ron DeSantis. Cornyn eventually endorsed Trump after Trump won the Iowa Caucus by a record margin.
Previous posts from Trump Jr also highlighted Cornyn and Thune’s obsession with funding Ukraine. In September 2023, Trump Jr wrote, “Mitch McConnell, John Thune, John Cornyn and their gang of Ukraine First RINOs are selling out GOP voters and demanding Ukraine funding as part of any CR. They Don’t want House conservatives to pass a bill that doesn’t send billions more to Ukraine. What a disgrace!!!”
Cornyn and Thune have released multiple press statements supporting Ukraine funding, with a press release from Senator Thune reading, “Thune: We Must Continue Supporting Ukraine in Its Fight for Freedom.”
Senator Cornyn is also a big supporter of Ukraine, once releasing a statement on his visit to the country, “This funding, this support, this military and humanitarian support, is not strictly an act of altruism on our part. We are doing this also because allowing Ukraine to defend itself is in our best interest. The cost of the United States doing nothing, of simply turning over this democracy, and our security, and our economy to Putin, well, that’s greater than any cost that could come by a supplemental appropriation.”
Thune and Cornyn’s horrific policy positions caused Donald Trump Jr to post in February of 2023 that they should never be Senate GOP Leader, “RINO Senators John Thune & John Cornyn both want to replace Mitch McConnell, once he finally gets put out to pasture. Both of them also voted to send billions more to Ukraine. MAGA must do everything in our power to stop either of these two RINOs from ever becoming Senate Leader!”
The facts are clear: John Thune and Cornyn’s horrific policies and anti-Trump biases prove that GOP voters can’t trust Thune or Cornyn to become the next Senate GOP Leader.
